Chapter 5: The Desert Wolves
Rika slowly regained consciousness as waves of pain washed all over his body. He began to cough, regurgitating all the salt water and sand he ingested. He observed his surroundings, trying to make sense of what in the ancestors' names just happened. A surge of memories quickly rushed into his mind. He remembered how – many moons ago, when the wolfpack boarded the ship – they saw the same volcano they ran from as it began to spew dark clouds from its crater yet again. Soon, days after the worrisome view took place, they felt an earthquake upon getting close to their destination soon followed by a loud, ear-shattering eruption. Even after they kept a distance from it, they still could feel the shockwave of it as the volcano sculpted itself into an entirely different shape. After a moment of terrorizing silence, the ship’s position began to heighten, then lowered to its original position. But when the wolfpack thought they could breathe a sigh of relief, the sea waves rose to a height
